Are Hindus in trouble because India is not a Hindu-Rashtra?

In 1947, the two-nation theory led to the partition of India. The proponents believed that Muslim community deserved a different homeland so that they won't get marginalized by the majority community, i.e Hindus. To materialize this belief, India was divided on the basis of religion and Pakistan came into existence on 14th Aug, 1947. Founding principle of this country was to have a Muslim nation-state itself. But what if India also had decided to become a Hindu-Rashtra?
Although, India has always adopted the secularist policy, the term 'secular' was added to the Indian constitution in 1976 with the 42nd constitutional amendment.
What do Hindu-nationalists believe?
Several so-called Hindu nationalists claim that India should have declared itself a 'Hindu state' at the time of independence. According to them, Indian Muslims are foreigners and India is a Hindu-homeland.
They often believe that the population of Muslims is increasing very fast and soon they will take over the whole country. Hindu would see persecution in their own country in the same manner in which minorities are being persecuted in the neighboring countries.
According to them, if India had been declared a Hindu-Rashtra in 1947, Hindu would have got what they actually deserved and also India would not have had to face hate crimes and intolerance incidents in the name of religion.
Fact-check:
Let's see some facts:
*1951 census:
                     Hindus: 84.1%
                     Muslims: 9.8%
*2011 census:
                     Hindus: 79.80 %
                     Muslims: 14.23 %
Seeing, this one may actually raise an alarm that India might see too much decrease in Hindu population in future?
Is it worrisome?
1. Some see the Hindu majority falling below the 80% mark as a cause for concern. But this ignores the fact that growth in Muslim population is actually falling faster than the Hindu population growth rate. If the trend continues, Indian population would have the Muslim at 16.89%, with Hindus Actually accounting for 81.06% in 2061.
Therefore, Four out of five Indians will still be Hindu even when Muslim population peaks.

2. Now, coming to the claim that India would have had minuscule population of muslims, had it been declared as a Hindu-state:
Let's see what are the trends in Muslim population growth around the world.
* Europe:Islam is the fastest-growing religion in Europe. The Muslim share of the population increased from 4.1% in 1990 to 6% in 2010 and will continue to increase over the next 40 years, reaching 10% in 2050.
* US: In 2017, Muslims constituted about 1.1% of the total U.S. population and accounted for 0.9% of American adults in 2014, up from 0.4% in 2007, due largely to immigration.

Therefore, we can see here that it doesn't matter if a country initially had homegenous population of only one religious community. In this era of globalization, people would migrate from one place to another and change the demographics. India would have automatically followed the trend. Once, our hilly neighbor Nepal used to be the only Hindu country in the world. But in 2007, it declared itself a secular nation.
3. Had India been a Hindu-state we would not have faced communal problems and religious intolerance?
India is home to 94% Hindus in the world. Other than that so many people follow different religions or no religion at all.
But presence of one community doesn't have to be dangerous for the other communities in the country. In our country, it has been seen that Political parties spew venom against other community just to convert the sentiment of a particular community into vote bank.
Today, the religious intolerance that we see is majorly because of the political practices being followed since years. The demagogues appeal to the religious sentiment and often follow divisive policies to win elections.
Some islamophobic people spread fake rumors and start fear mongering to help their own cause.
Our country needs to understand the hidden agenda of various political parties and keep the religion a personal affair. India has always seen communal harmony and all of us would continue to live together and spread love.

A diverse India is the original idea of India!!
